I’ve seen a lot of people who are complaining about the coverage for the Royal Wedding. I myself have remained pretty neutral about the whole thing, but curious. To tell the truth though, after I watched it, I felt really glad I did. I saw things about it that I really liked, and I feel like I witnessed a part of history.
First, let’s talk about the dress! It was from Alexander McQueen’s house and I thought it was perfect. It was beautiful but it was still subtle. It wasn’t over the top, like I think many people were hoping it would be.
Many people kept bringing up Princess Diana and her wedding dress, and wondered if Kate (Catherine!) would be wearing something that compared to the extravagant nature of Diana’s dress. But it seems like Kate channeled a different princess with her dress:
As soon as I saw the dress, I couldn’t help but see the resemblance to Princess Grace of Monaco’s wedding dress. Just a little more modern for a modern age.
I also loved the emotion I saw. I know it seems like it was a pretty dry affair, but as Royals they are expected to behave a certain way. But I could see the way Kate held onto her father’s hand as she came down the aisle, and how William told her she looked beautiful, just like any groom would say to any bride. I liked those little touches.
I agree with the commentators who said this is a new era for the Royal family. I think that William and Kate will be the superstars that Charles and Diana were back in their day.
Also:
The Queen is adorable and looked like anybody’s grandmother.
Catherine Elizabeth is a great Royal sounding name.
This was one wedding where nobody was allowed to be late!
I loved the hats. All of them.
And, I really want to go to London! Someday, someday. 🙂
