After we finished in Savannah, we headed to nearby Charleston, SC. I totally fell head over heels in love with Charleston. It has an absolutely gorgeous historic district and again, it is just chock full of important American history. We went to the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, which is one of the oldest buildings in Charleston. It was originally built on the water’s edge, and on the tour you can see bits of the original wall that used to face the water. The town has grown, and land has been added on, making the Old Exchange a few blocks from the water’s edge at this point in time. The Exchange is notable for multiple reasons, including the fact that it is one of the locations that the Constitution was ratified. After we visited the Exchange, we wondered around Charleston a bit, and enjoyed the beautiful, colorful buidlings, the waterside and more. There is just so much to see in the historic district! We were lucky to have another absolutely perfect spring day with lots of sunshine!
