Brian and I are wannabe foodies. We love cooking shows, trying new restaurants, and experimenting in the kitchen. Some may consider being a vegetarian a little limiting, but I think it’s actually a challenge to see what ways we can be creative.
The other day I was at Whole Foods picking things up for some dinner ideas, and I saw these giant papayas in front of the store. I have never prepared a papaya myself, but I grabbed one, because it was too interesting to pass up. I probably should have googled it before I cut into it, but I get a little crazy sometimes.
Isn’t that cool? There is a star inside the papaya when you cut the end off. Unfortunately, it wasn’t 100% ripe.. it was about 93.5% of the way there.. but not 100%. Plus, according to the internet, you’re supposed to slice it lengthwise. But, if I had.. I wouldn’t have found this. Adventures in cooking are full of little treats (and big messes).
I've never had much luck with papayas either. They're too tough in some parts, too mushy in others, so that when I've tried to cut them, I end up with slime all over my fingers!
