What is included in a portrait session?
Your portrait session includes all of the pre-session discussion and planning, a session lasting up to two hours at up to two locations, and my editing time. It also includes a set of printed 4×6 proofs and a slideshow of your finished images.
Do I get a CD of all the images?
Digital copies of your images are not included in your portrait session, but they are available for purchase after the session. Digital negative options include the finished, edited proofs.
How many images can I expect from a session and how long does it take?
The number of finished images varies depending on the type of session. On average, most clients can expect between 35 – 55 finished images. I try to pick the very best from your session and give you the most variety without including overwhelming duplicates. The average session turnaround is between two and three weeks.
How can I buy prints and other products, and when will I get them?
2 – 3 weeks after your session we will have a proofing session where we go over your images. I provide you with a sample of some of my most popular products so that you can see and handle items you might be interested in purchasing. The majority of products will be available within 2 – 3 weeks, with heirloom albums taking 6 – 8 weeks after approved design.
What if I need to reschedule my session?
You may transfer your session to an available date (dependent on availability) with at least one week’s notice. If you end up with an illness or medical emergency that prevents you from attending your session, please let me know as soon as possible. Additional rescheduling requests require a change fee. Second rescheduling request is $50 and the third and final request is $100. If you are unable to keep the third date, the retainer is forfeit. No call/no shows are also subject to forfeit.
What if it’s rainy, windy, cold or really hot (this is Texas, after all!)?
Weather rescheduling is up to the photographer. I do not cancel or reschedule sessions based on a forecast of rain until 2-3 hours prior to the scheduled session. The weather can change so quickly and I have shot many sessions where it rained a little in the morning, but ended up with a perfect afternoon. For situations of cold/wind it would depend on the session type. When it comes to the heat, please be mindful of the time of year you schedule your session and the type of session you want. I am happy to shoot indoor sessions at your home or other location if you feel concerned about the heat. If you absolutely want an outdoor session and heat is a concern, I suggest scheduling it in the last week of September through the end of November or the first week of March through the end of May.
Can I bring my dog(s) to the session?
Yes, you’re welcome to included well behaved dogs in your session. Please keep your dog’s temperament in mind in regards to the type of photos and the locations. Often I suggest you have a friend or family member available to help bring or pick up the dog after one half of the session. Make sure you bring a leash, water (and possibly food/snacks) and waste removal with you.
