Why pictures matter!

A while back I scanned in a ton of old photos from my grandmother’s house. There are quite a few that are damaged, particularly the older ones, and it’s been my goal to restore them. Well, I have had very little time over the years with school, work, and the photography business, but I’ve done a few.

These are just some examples why pictures are SO important. And not only taking pictures, but hey, getting some prints! Nowadays, and I’m guilty too, it’s easy to just get a digital image.. but you can’t handle a digital image in fifty years.

This one hasn’t been finished, I just started on it. It’s my Granny with her brother on her wedding day.

My Granny as a little girl! Shut up with the cuteness! This one is one I’ve restored, but the original damage wasn’t severe.

My Granny with my Mother as a baby. I love this photo in ways I cannot describe. I fixed this one a couple of years ago, I don’t love the upper left hand corner, but I pretty much had to fake it since I couldn’t make it out in the original. If you are curious what the original looks like here!.

Take lots of pictures. Get lots of prints. Preserve lots of memories.

Guilty! We never get personal prints made, and I’ve been meaning to for months. Thanks for the reminder! Isn’t it fun looking back at pictures of parents from way back before we knew them?
