Love the ones you’ve got

There is something about my Granny that I can’t put my finger on. I feel so much love for her that my heart might burst. Perhaps it’s the fact she is one of the least judgmental people that I have ever met in my life. She has never exhibited anything in front of any of her grandchildren that would begin to resemble negativity or hatred. She always has listened, and she’s always loved us.

My family comes from a very humble background. We are not perfect people. We aren’t the people in big houses, driving nice cars, and wearing expensive clothes. I regret that I don’t know even more about where my Granny came from. But she always wanted to talk about us, and not about herself. We were always so important to her.

Yesterday, we went to my Granny and Papa’s house for a thanksgiving get together. They live about an hour and a half from me, outside of a small East Texas town called Mineola.

My Granny has had a lot of health problems over my life but she had been doing so well for quite a while. Yesterday, I was shocked to see her. I don’t want to go into details, but she is very sick. My heart felt like it was breaking. Of course, I want nothing more than for her to overcome and get better, and be there for many more years to come. But, I’ve never seen her this way. It’s a lot for my spirit to take. Like I said.. I love her more than I can possibly explain.

Sorry, this is a rather down blog entry from yours truly, but I just had to share because afterall, I believe that this art is about love.

Love the ones you’ve got, while you’ve got them. Call your grandparents, call your parents, call everyone that matters and let them know that you love them.
