Hi, and welcome to my blog! Here you will find sneak peeks of my recent sessions, featured posts of sessions and weddings, as well as a few personal photos thrown into the mix. I love to blog and I think it’s a great way to show off my amazing clients and share my personality with you. I believe that choosing a photographer to document your life is a very personal thing, and it’s important to find someone that you can build a connection with.

Outside of all the fun photos, my blog also has important announcements, helpful tips for both clients and photographers, and the occasional random post of things I like. The bluebonnets were a bit late this year, but we finally had some good patches in time for me to get a few photos of Zaida before her little brother made his appearance. She had fun traipsing through the flowers, but actually preferred the red flowers over the blue ones. My sweet girl is always full of personality, that’s for sure.

I’m not sure about the rest of you, but I much rather be behind the camera versus in front of it. I always get the worst pre-photo jitters, so when I tell my clients that, I’m being completely honest! But, despite all this, I still ended up with not one, but two maternity photo sessions for our final pregnancy. The first one was shot by Jenna of Snapberry Photographs (the one you saw recently with the gender reveal!) and the second was by the fabulous Samantha Nandez Photography. Just like anybody else, we photographers run into our own issues. Trying to attend a birthday party that happens during nap time AND then shoot a success family photo afterwards.. well.. anybody with a toddler can understand. But it wasn’t all bad. For the second set, I was excited to try something artsy and I knew Samantha has a similar aesthetic to myself and we are a great match.

Over the last five years I have been honored to be able to photograph many couples celebrating on their wedding days. Some have been bigger weddings, and some have been just me, the couple and the officiant. As time has gone on, my own life and priorities have changed. In the past year and a half, I have felt more and more that portrait photography is where I rather focus. There are so many things to love about shooting weddings, but for me personally, there are also a lot of things to love about having more freedom on my weekends as well. I have never been a very ‘high volume’ wedding shooter (and nor have I desired that) but my heart says that it is no longer the path for me to take. So, for now I will be hanging up my wedding shootin’ shoes and mostly retiring from photographing weddings.

So, why am I only mostly retiring and not fully retiring? Because there are still certain wedding celebrations I will photograph. I am more than happy to photograph intimate weddings that occur on a much smaller scale than your standard wedding. While I believe all weddings possess a sense of intimacy, regardless of size, this is how I define an intimate wedding:

A maximum of three hours coverage.
One shooter (me!).
One location.
Up to 25 guests.

I am also open to considering weddings with extremely unique or offbeat elements to them with couples who are a great personality match to myself. Same sex weddings, brightly colored dresses, totally geeked out receptions, or any other one of a kind touches that would make for a totally unique experience. If you’re having an offbeat wedding and you think we could be kindred spirits, please do send me an email with lots of details about your wedding and what you’re looking for in your dream photographer! I am always open to discussion with people regarding special circumstances, so don’t be afraid to drop me a line.

I was excited that I could finally get together for a quick mini session with my beautiful bestest Diana, her husband Rob, and their two adorable little guys! You might remember, if you’ve been following my blog for a while, when I posted their engagement photos and Diana’s bridal photos. I was so excited when Diana told me she was pregnant! The boys are such an amazing story, because they were born at only 27 weeks gestation. As you can see, they are healthy and gorgeous now and everybody who knows the family is thrilled.

The boys were a little serious, but I managed to squeeze a few smiles out of them!

And now we’re onto the reception! There was lots of sparkly lights, candles and white flowers with a few touches of red and purple for contrast. Lots of laughter with the speeches and dances. It was great to be able to capture these moments, especially being with people I know.

Neely & James had a great ceremony full of emotions. Neely was clearly emotional over getting to marry her long time love, while the ring retrieving antics of Best Man Bryan and Maid of Honor Jessica had everybody laughing. It was wonderful to be able to attend and capture this ceremony. Then we popped outside for more portraits!
